And at that time there was a great persecution against the church which was at Jerusalem; and they were all scattered abroad throughout the regions of Judaea and Samaria, except the apostles.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"2\" onclick=\"loadParallel(2,5,8,2,&quot;Acts&quot;)\">2<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">And devout men carried Stephen to his burial, and made great lamentation over him.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"3\" onclick=\"loadParallel(2,5,8,3,&quot;Acts&quot;)\">3<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">As for Saul, he made havock of the church, entering into every house, and haling men and women committed them to prison.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"4\" onclick=\"loadParallel(2,5,8,4,&quot;Acts&quot;)\">4<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">Therefore they that were scattered abroad went every where preaching the word.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"5\" onclick=\"loadParallel(2,5,8,5,&quot;Acts&quot;)\">5<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">Then Philip went down to the city of Samaria, and preached Christ unto them.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"6\" onclick=\"loadParallel(2,5,8,6,&quot;Acts&quot;)\">6<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">And the people with one accord gave heed unto those things which Philip spake, hearing and seeing the miracles which he did.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"7\" onclick=\"loadParallel(2,5,8,7,&quot;Acts&quot;)\">7<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">For unclean spirits, crying with loud voice, came out of many that were possessed with them: and many taken with palsies, and that were lame, were healed.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"8\" onclick=\"loadParallel(2,5,8,8,&quot;Acts&quot;)\">8<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">And there was great joy in that city.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"9\" onclick=\"loadParallel(2,5,8,9,&quot;Acts&quot;)\">9<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">But there was a certain man, called Simon, which beforetime in the same city used sorcery, and bewitched the people of Samaria, giving out that himself was some great one:<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"10\" onclick=\"loadParallel(2,5,8,10,&quot;Acts&quot;)\">10<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">To whom they all gave heed, from the least to the greatest, saying, This man is the great power of God.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"11\" onclick=\"loadParallel(2,5,8,11,&quot;Acts&quot;)\">11<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">And to him they had regard, because that of long time he had bewitched them with sorceries.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"12\" onclick=\"loadParallel(2,5,8,12,&quot;Acts&quot;)\">12<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">But when they believed Philip preaching the things concerning the kingdom of God, and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both men and women.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"13\" onclick=\"loadParallel(2,5,8,13,&quot;Acts&quot;)\">13<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">Then Simon himself believed also: and when he was baptized, he continued with Philip, and wondered, beholding the miracles and signs which were done.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"14\" onclick=\"loadParallel(2,5,8,14,&quot;Acts&quot;)\">14<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">Now when the apostles which were at Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received the word of God, they sent unto them Peter and John:<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"15\" onclick=\"loadParallel(2,5,8,15,&quot;Acts&quot;)\">15<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">Who, when they were come down, prayed for them, that they might receive the Holy Ghost:<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"16\" onclick=\"loadParallel(2,5,8,16,&quot;Acts&quot;)\">16<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">(For as yet he was fallen upon none of them: only they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.)<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"17\" onclick=\"loadParallel(2,5,8,17,&quot;Acts&quot;)\">17<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">Then laid they their hands on them, and they received the Holy Ghost.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"18\" onclick=\"loadParallel(2,5,8,18,&quot;Acts&quot;)\">18<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">And when Simon saw that through laying on of the apostles&#039; hands the Holy Ghost was given, he offered them money,<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"19\" onclick=\"loadParallel(2,5,8,19,&quot;Acts&quot;)\">19<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">Saying, Give me also this power, that on whomsoever I lay hands, he may receive the Holy Ghost.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"20\" onclick=\"loadParallel(2,5,8,20,&quot;Acts&quot;)\">20<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">But Peter said unto him, Thy money perish with thee, because thou hast thought that the gift of God may be purchased with money.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"21\" onclick=\"loadParallel(2,5,8,21,&quot;Acts&quot;)\">21<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">Thou hast neither part nor lot in this matter: for thy heart is not right in the sight of God.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"22\" onclick=\"loadParallel(2,5,8,22,&quot;Acts&quot;)\">22<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">Repent therefore of this thy wickedness, and pray God, if perhaps the thought of thine heart may be forgiven thee.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"23\" onclick=\"loadParallel(2,5,8,23,&quot;Acts&quot;)\">23<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">For I perceive that thou art in the gall of bitterness, and in the bond of iniquity.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"24\" onclick=\"loadParallel(2,5,8,24,&quot;Acts&quot;)\">24<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">Then answered Simon, and said, Pray ye to the LORD for me, that none of these things which ye have spoken come upon me.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"25\" onclick=\"loadParallel(2,5,8,25,&quot;Acts&quot;)\">25<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">And they, when they had testified and preached the word of the Lord, returned to Jerusalem, and preached the gospel in many villages of the Samaritans.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"26\" onclick=\"loadParallel(2,5,8,26,&quot;Acts&quot;)\">26<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">And the angel of the Lord spake unto Philip, saying, Arise, and go toward the south unto the way that goeth down from Jerusalem unto Gaza, which is desert.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"27\" onclick=\"loadParallel(2,5,8,27,&quot;Acts&quot;)\">27<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">And he arose and went: and, behold, a man of Ethiopia, an eunuch of great authority under Candace queen of the Ethiopians, who had the charge of all her treasure, and had come to Jerusalem for to worship,<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"28\" onclick=\"loadParallel(2,5,8,28,&quot;Acts&quot;)\">28<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">Was returning, and sitting in his chariot read Esaias the prophet.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"29\" onclick=\"loadParallel(2,5,8,29,&quot;Acts&quot;)\">29<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">Then the Spirit said unto Philip, Go near, and join thyself to this chariot.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"30\" onclick=\"loadParallel(2,5,8,30,&quot;Acts&quot;)\">30<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">And Philip ran thither to him, and heard him read the prophet Esaias, and said, Understandest thou what thou readest?<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"31\" onclick=\"loadParallel(2,5,8,31,&quot;Acts&quot;)\">31<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">And he said, How can I, except some man should guide me? And he desired Philip that he would come up and sit with him.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"32\" onclick=\"loadParallel(2,5,8,32,&quot;Acts&quot;)\">32<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">The place of the scripture which he read was this, He was led as a sheep to the slaughter; and like a lamb dumb before his shearer, so opened he not his mouth:<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"33\" onclick=\"loadParallel(2,5,8,33,&quot;Acts&quot;)\">33<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">In his humiliation his judgment was taken away: and who shall declare his generation? for his life is taken from the earth.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"34\" onclick=\"loadParallel(2,5,8,34,&quot;Acts&quot;)\">34<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">And the eunuch answered Philip, and said, I pray thee, of whom speaketh the prophet this? of himself, or of some other man?<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"35\" onclick=\"loadParallel(2,5,8,35,&quot;Acts&quot;)\">35<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">Then Philip opened his mouth, and began at the same scripture, and preached unto him Jesus.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"36\" onclick=\"loadParallel(2,5,8,36,&quot;Acts&quot;)\">36<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">And as they went on their way, they came unto a certain water: and the eunuch said, See, here is water; what doth hinder me to be baptized?<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"37\" onclick=\"loadParallel(2,5,8,37,&quot;Acts&quot;)\">37<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest.
