{"reader_html":"<h1 class=\"chapter-heading\">The Proverbs<span class=\"chapter-label\">Chapter 30<\/span><\/h1>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><span class=\"dropcap-wrap\" data-v=\"1\"><span class=\"dropcap\" title=\"Compare verse 1 across translations\" onclick=\"loadParallel(1,20,30,1,&quot;Proverbs&quot;)\">T<\/span>he words of Agur the son of Jakeh, even the prophecy: the man spake unto Ithiel, even unto Ithiel and Ucal,<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"2\" onclick=\"loadParallel(1,20,30,2,&quot;Proverbs&quot;)\">2<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">Surely I am more brutish than any man, and have not the understanding of a man.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"3\" onclick=\"loadParallel(1,20,30,3,&quot;Proverbs&quot;)\">3<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">I neither learned wisdom, nor have the knowledge of the holy.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"4\" onclick=\"loadParallel(1,20,30,4,&quot;Proverbs&quot;)\">4<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">Who hath ascended up into heaven, or descended? who hath gathered the wind in his fists? who hath bound the waters in a garment? who hath established all the ends of the earth? what is his name, and what is his son&#039;s name, if thou canst tell?<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"5\" onclick=\"loadParallel(1,20,30,5,&quot;Proverbs&quot;)\">5<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"6\" onclick=\"loadParallel(1,20,30,6,&quot;Proverbs&quot;)\">6<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">Add thou not unto his words, lest he reprove thee, and thou be found a liar.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"7\" onclick=\"loadParallel(1,20,30,7,&quot;Proverbs&quot;)\">7<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">Two things have I required of thee; deny me them not before I die:<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"8\" onclick=\"loadParallel(1,20,30,8,&quot;Proverbs&quot;)\">8<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">Remove far from me vanity and lies: give me neither poverty nor riches; feed me with food convenient for me:<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"9\" onclick=\"loadParallel(1,20,30,9,&quot;Proverbs&quot;)\">9<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">Lest I be full, and deny thee, and say, Who is the LORD? or lest I be poor, and steal, and take the name of my God in vain.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"10\" onclick=\"loadParallel(1,20,30,10,&quot;Proverbs&quot;)\">10<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">Accuse not a servant unto his master, lest he curse thee, and thou be found guilty.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"11\" onclick=\"loadParallel(1,20,30,11,&quot;Proverbs&quot;)\">11<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">There is a generation that curseth their father, and doth not bless their mother.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"12\" onclick=\"loadParallel(1,20,30,12,&quot;Proverbs&quot;)\">12<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">There is a generation that are pure in their own eyes, and yet is not washed from their filthiness.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"13\" onclick=\"loadParallel(1,20,30,13,&quot;Proverbs&quot;)\">13<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">There is a generation, O how lofty are their eyes! and their eyelids are lifted up.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"14\" onclick=\"loadParallel(1,20,30,14,&quot;Proverbs&quot;)\">14<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">There is a generation, whose teeth are as swords, and their jaw teeth as knives, to devour the poor from off the earth, and the needy from among men.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"15\" onclick=\"loadParallel(1,20,30,15,&quot;Proverbs&quot;)\">15<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">The horseleach hath two daughters, crying, Give, give. There are three things that are never satisfied, yea, four things say not, It is enough:<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"16\" onclick=\"loadParallel(1,20,30,16,&quot;Proverbs&quot;)\">16<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">The grave; and the barren womb; the earth that is not filled with water; and the fire that saith not, It is enough.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"17\" onclick=\"loadParallel(1,20,30,17,&quot;Proverbs&quot;)\">17<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">The eye that mocketh at his father, and despiseth to obey his mother, the ravens of the valley shall pick it out, and the young eagles shall eat it.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"18\" onclick=\"loadParallel(1,20,30,18,&quot;Proverbs&quot;)\">18<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">There be three things which are too wonderful for me, yea, four which I know not:<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"19\" onclick=\"loadParallel(1,20,30,19,&quot;Proverbs&quot;)\">19<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">The way of an eagle in the air; the way of a serpent upon a rock; the way of a ship in the midst of the sea; and the way of a man with a maid.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"20\" onclick=\"loadParallel(1,20,30,20,&quot;Proverbs&quot;)\">20<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">Such is the way of an adulterous woman; she eateth, and wipeth her mouth, and saith, I have done no wickedness.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"21\" onclick=\"loadParallel(1,20,30,21,&quot;Proverbs&quot;)\">21<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">For three things the earth is disquieted, and for four which it cannot bear:<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"22\" onclick=\"loadParallel(1,20,30,22,&quot;Proverbs&quot;)\">22<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">For a servant when he reigneth; and a fool when he is filled with meat;<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"23\" onclick=\"loadParallel(1,20,30,23,&quot;Proverbs&quot;)\">23<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">For an odious woman when she is married; and an handmaid that is heir to her mistress.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"24\" onclick=\"loadParallel(1,20,30,24,&quot;Proverbs&quot;)\">24<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">There be four things which are little upon the earth, but they are exceeding wise:<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"25\" onclick=\"loadParallel(1,20,30,25,&quot;Proverbs&quot;)\">25<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">The ants are a people not strong, yet they prepare their meat in the summer;<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"26\" onclick=\"loadParallel(1,20,30,26,&quot;Proverbs&quot;)\">26<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">The conies are but a feeble folk, yet make they their houses in the rocks;<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"27\" onclick=\"loadParallel(1,20,30,27,&quot;Proverbs&quot;)\">27<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">The locusts have no king, yet go they forth all of them by bands;<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"28\" onclick=\"loadParallel(1,20,30,28,&quot;Proverbs&quot;)\">28<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">The spider taketh hold with her hands, and is in kings&#039; palaces.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"29\" onclick=\"loadParallel(1,20,30,29,&quot;Proverbs&quot;)\">29<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">There be three things which go well, yea, four are comely in going:<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"30\" onclick=\"loadParallel(1,20,30,30,&quot;Proverbs&quot;)\">30<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">A lion which is strongest among beasts, and turneth not away for any;<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"31\" onclick=\"loadParallel(1,20,30,31,&quot;Proverbs&quot;)\">31<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">A greyhound;
